Recently, the prime minister Shinzo Abe visited Yasukuni shrine. Lots of media criticized his visit. For example, Washington Post criticized that the prime minister visited the "war shrine". However, it's not true at all.
Actually, the name Yasu-kuni stands for "make the country peace." People visit Yasukuni shrine in order to pray for peace! Not for war!
Indeed, people labeled as war criminals are also laid to rest there. However, Japanese people don't regard them as heroes just as Korean and Chinese government say. We pray in order to cleanse their spirit not to repeat the war again. The worse the spirits are, the more we should pray for them. This thought sounds strange for you, but it's a style of Shinto. See "Harae" article in Wikipedia for more information.
As praying not to repeat the war again is a good thing, vast majority of Japanese people don't criticize the prime minister's visit to Yasukuni. Left wings only do!
The concept of Harae is not familiar to those who live in other countries, left wings use it for political purposes and intend to misinform the people so that they criticize Japan. Japanese left wings are strongly connected to Korea and China, they act in order to benefit those countries. Their intention is to attack Japan. For me, they seem to increse tention amongst Japan and its neibours. They must desire war.
The article seems really strange for me, a bog-standard Japanese, because we do not call the Japan army as the imperial army. The latter term is popular amongst China and Korea. Japanese people know that the emperor was not a central character of the war, but the Japan army made use of the emperor. So, people other than left wings don't use such a term.
Please do not deceived by such negative propaganda. Japanese people really want peace of the world.

As I wrote in the previous post, the rising sun flag is just a national flag of Japan. However, Koreans uglily engage in a negative campaign against the rising sun flag.
BENJAMINS became a victim of it.
Koreans blamed the rising sun flag and sent lots of e-mails for protest, but their claims were not granted. BENJAMINS firstly attempted to convince Koreans and said that the design of flag was not a problem. However, it was failed. Koreans cracked BENJAMINS' web site and modified it. What a terrible act it was! It's a cyber terror.
Finally, BENJAMINS withdrawn the product and released a statement to apologize to Koreans. BENJAMINS defeted by the terrorists. It's an extremely sad episode.

Is Rising Sun Flag Really Like Nazi Flag?
The short answer: NO!
While South Korean people are criticizing "Rising Sun Flag" like below:
However, assuming the rising sun flag is equivalent to Nazi flag is terrible fault.

After a extreme right-wing Koizumi administration, I thought Shinzo Abe took relatively mild policies which controverted the previous administration, after the Liberal Democratic Party turned out to be an anti-administration party, they seemed to need conservative supporters. I'm sorry that he seems to be a politician who try to gain conservative-wing's favor.

This is a really wise decision. Their aim to install comfort women memorials is purely an anti-Japanese act. It's not focusing women’s rights at all.
If Korean people really value women's rights, they should install a memorial for what they did in the past; it's Lai Đại Hàn. But they have never insisted to do so in history. What an ugly hypocrisy they do!

Japanese version of Korea JoongAng Daily introduced these photos as the evidence that Korean people were taken by force and made to work in Tawara island and Korean student mobilization. Are they kidding?
Photo 1: Soldiers does not look Japanese, because they are white people. See the arm band of the soldier on left side, you can find letters "M P". It means military police. If they are military of Japan, they should write it in Japanese language (憲兵). They must be US soldiers. Does Korea JoongAng Daily want to insist that Korean people were taken away by US military?
Photo 2: See the year of the photo at the bottom. It's 1940. It was 1941 that US and Japan started fighting. So, Japan had not joined WWII in 1940, so they did not need such student mobilization at all. What is this photo? This should be a photo of usual students at that time.
Actually, these photos themselves are not fakes, in the sense that they were intentionally editted by someone. However, stories which Korea JoongAng Daily says is totally a fake. Please take care of such fakes. Korea JonngAng Daily is not a reliable media.

Korea must apologize
South Korean media like to commend Germany's of their apology and compensation for the World War II in order to accuse Japan like "See Germany still apologizes for the war crime, but Japan doesn't!" Korean media often ask Japan to express more apoligy and pay more compensation as if Korea was a victim from Japan. But it's totally a wrong idea. Why? Because Korea was a part of Japan, and fought with Japan. Korea was involved in the war, took part in what Japan did during the war. So, Korea had same responsibility as Japan. Korea should apologize instead of accusing Japan.
To understand Korea's position during WWII, it helps to compare Korea with Belguim. Belguim was also merged to Germany during WWII and faught together with, very much just like Korea during WWII. What Belguim has done after the war? Let's read the following news article.

Racism In Japan?
Washington Post reported an article: American teacher in Japan under fire for lessons on Japan’s history of discrimination

After watching the video, I started feeling like headaches, because the video is ugly. The message of the video comes across totally wrong images. I bet those people who are not familiar with Japan will believe his opinions and think that many Japanese people do such terrible discriminations day to day after watching this video.
In this video, Jame Elliott's lesson is cited and a teacher says "I mean that today the blue-eyed people are the better people in this room."
Don't you think that such bad discriminations exist in Japan after watching the video? It's a wrong misapprehension.
Teachers generally do not tell such things at their classes, because we've built a consensus on the fact that we should not side with racism and discrimination. If teachers do, students or their parents report to the school at least and such teachers are heavily accused. In Japan, left wings have strong influence in educations at schools. Left wings ever do not allow such statement at any cost.
In this video, Mr.Dezaki says that when he asked Japanese students "Please raise your hand if you think there is racism in Japan" only two or three students raised their hand. I think vast majority of students actually had not ever faced racism before. This is not surprising, because Japan is a homogeneous country. It's not a question here that why Japan is a homogeneous country or whether it's bad or good. It is the fact due to historical reason. If they do not face other races in person, it's difficult for them to be aware of racism near themselves.
Can you imagine what students thought after watching the Elliott's lesson? The students had not seen racism close at hand. The teacher showed the anti racism video in US. Then, it's perfectly natural such student happened to think "Racism is an American problem." The teacher led the question.
So, this is a wrong question from the beginning.
He explains that "Chon" is a ridiculing term of Korean people. But this is a misconception.
Actually, there is another term with same pronounciation "Chon" which has same meaning as what he says. (This is just like Koreans call a Japanese person as Jjokbari.) However, the original meaning of "Chon" in "Baka Chon" is not "Korean people."
"Chon" is a term orignated from a sound of strike clapper after a theatrical show. The term means immature or half-baked. "Baka" means idiot, stupid or fool. So "Baka Chon" is a term which means "so easy to use that even idiots or inmatured (amature) people can use."
His misconception is a famous mistake that lots of Japanese people also do. However, "Baka Chon" is censored word in Japan, because the term had lacerated mistaken Korean people even if it was a misconception.
He might have not know, but "Chon" is not a term limited to ridicule Korean people, but used other contexts. For example, samurai's heair style was called "Chon Mage". This "Chon" doesn't mean Korean people at all.
I also mention that "Baka Chon" is an old term, which young people do not use recently. Young people do not know the term because the term has been censored for long time. I bet most of his students in Japan didn't know the term.
Burakumin is also an old problem. As he says in the video, it's difficult to distinguish Burakumin from others. It's not really a problem recently. I didn't know the hand sign.
I don't know why he brings on such old problem when he is talking about discrimination in the current Japanese society? Burakumin is not a fiction, but is not an on-going problem either. His opinion sounds as if the problem is still continuing and let us think Japan is a discriminative country.
While he introduces Hiromu Nonaka's case as an example, but it's not a common case, but a special case. A man who wants to be a prime minister should not be a usual case. It was really unfortunate that he decided not to be a prime minister, but it was his decision. He had another choice and was able to fight against discrimination aggressively. But he didn't. It was his decision and should be valued anyway.
The hand sign is not common in Japan.
By the way, when he explains about "caste system" which was made 300 years ago, whether it's intentionally or not, he misses an important point. The system actually defined four classes, samurai, farmer, craftsman and merchant. Samurai was the highest ranked, and farmer was second, craftman was thired and merchant was forth. You may wonder why merchant was the lowest ranked. This was because they were rich and they had power. (Farmers were the poorest people.) So, the system was not "caste system" actually, but a political strategy established by the government of the time (Edo bakufu). The system was aimed to reduce power of merchants. It was not a religious system.
There were yet other two classes which were not defined by the system; one is noble (the president of norbles was Emperor), the other is "Burakumin". In Edo age, Japan was dominated by samurai (the president of samurai was called Shogun), and nobles did not have sufficent power. Neither the emperor did.
If people hear "there was a caste system in old Japan" without explanation of its background, they might think that Japan is such a discriminative country. This is totally misleading. Do you understand why I think the video is so ugly?
He might have learned about Japanese historical discrimination, but doesn't know about the real situation.
It's not appropriate or fair to show a single example as if it is commonly done. If his friend experienced such discrimination, his friend should sue the apartment owner. People in Japan are sometimes face the rejection from apartment owners due to various reasons such as credit decisions, but it's not discrimination.
When we talk about this kind of topics, we should discuss based on statistics, not on individual cases.
I won't say that there is no discrimination in Japan. There actually is! By the way, do you know any country which is free from discriminations? I do not.
The problem is that points in this video are totally wrong.

Don't you think that such bad discriminations exist in Japan after watching the video? It's a wrong misapprehension.
Teachers generally do not tell such things at their classes, because we've built a consensus on the fact that we should not side with racism and discrimination. If teachers do, students or their parents report to the school at least and such teachers are heavily accused. In Japan, left wings have strong influence in educations at schools. Left wings ever do not allow such statement at any cost.
In this video, Mr.Dezaki says that when he asked Japanese students "Please raise your hand if you think there is racism in Japan" only two or three students raised their hand. I think vast majority of students actually had not ever faced racism before. This is not surprising, because Japan is a homogeneous country. It's not a question here that why Japan is a homogeneous country or whether it's bad or good. It is the fact due to historical reason. If they do not face other races in person, it's difficult for them to be aware of racism near themselves.
Can you imagine what students thought after watching the Elliott's lesson? The students had not seen racism close at hand. The teacher showed the anti racism video in US. Then, it's perfectly natural such student happened to think "Racism is an American problem." The teacher led the question.
So, this is a wrong question from the beginning.
Misconception of "Baka Chon"
He explains that "Chon" is a ridiculing term of Korean people. But this is a misconception.
Actually, there is another term with same pronounciation "Chon" which has same meaning as what he says. (This is just like Koreans call a Japanese person as Jjokbari.) However, the original meaning of "Chon" in "Baka Chon" is not "Korean people."
"Chon" is a term orignated from a sound of strike clapper after a theatrical show. The term means immature or half-baked. "Baka" means idiot, stupid or fool. So "Baka Chon" is a term which means "so easy to use that even idiots or inmatured (amature) people can use."
His misconception is a famous mistake that lots of Japanese people also do. However, "Baka Chon" is censored word in Japan, because the term had lacerated mistaken Korean people even if it was a misconception.
He might have not know, but "Chon" is not a term limited to ridicule Korean people, but used other contexts. For example, samurai's heair style was called "Chon Mage". This "Chon" doesn't mean Korean people at all.
I also mention that "Baka Chon" is an old term, which young people do not use recently. Young people do not know the term because the term has been censored for long time. I bet most of his students in Japan didn't know the term.
Burakumin
Burakumin is also an old problem. As he says in the video, it's difficult to distinguish Burakumin from others. It's not really a problem recently. I didn't know the hand sign.
I don't know why he brings on such old problem when he is talking about discrimination in the current Japanese society? Burakumin is not a fiction, but is not an on-going problem either. His opinion sounds as if the problem is still continuing and let us think Japan is a discriminative country.
While he introduces Hiromu Nonaka's case as an example, but it's not a common case, but a special case. A man who wants to be a prime minister should not be a usual case. It was really unfortunate that he decided not to be a prime minister, but it was his decision. He had another choice and was able to fight against discrimination aggressively. But he didn't. It was his decision and should be valued anyway.
The hand sign is not common in Japan.
By the way, when he explains about "caste system" which was made 300 years ago, whether it's intentionally or not, he misses an important point. The system actually defined four classes, samurai, farmer, craftsman and merchant. Samurai was the highest ranked, and farmer was second, craftman was thired and merchant was forth. You may wonder why merchant was the lowest ranked. This was because they were rich and they had power. (Farmers were the poorest people.) So, the system was not "caste system" actually, but a political strategy established by the government of the time (Edo bakufu). The system was aimed to reduce power of merchants. It was not a religious system.
There were yet other two classes which were not defined by the system; one is noble (the president of norbles was Emperor), the other is "Burakumin". In Edo age, Japan was dominated by samurai (the president of samurai was called Shogun), and nobles did not have sufficent power. Neither the emperor did.
If people hear "there was a caste system in old Japan" without explanation of its background, they might think that Japan is such a discriminative country. This is totally misleading. Do you understand why I think the video is so ugly?
He might have learned about Japanese historical discrimination, but doesn't know about the real situation.
Apartment In Tokyo
It's not appropriate or fair to show a single example as if it is commonly done. If his friend experienced such discrimination, his friend should sue the apartment owner. People in Japan are sometimes face the rejection from apartment owners due to various reasons such as credit decisions, but it's not discrimination.
When we talk about this kind of topics, we should discuss based on statistics, not on individual cases.
Conclusion
I won't say that there is no discrimination in Japan. There actually is! By the way, do you know any country which is free from discriminations? I do not.
The problem is that points in this video are totally wrong.

Olympic Is Defiled
It is really disappointing that International Orympic Committee issued a bronze medal to Park Jong-Woo. Park's demonstration regarding to Dokto thing is clearly a political act, because Takeshima, the Japanese territory, is under conflict. Doing any political act is of course incompatible with core principles of the Olympic Charter. The committee should ban Park from Olympic games forever!! Otherwise, people will start demonstrating political act aggressively upon Olympic games for the sake of small penalty, then Olympic games shall lose trust in the future, and will be less popular than it is now.

Country Of Theft
On January 30, South Korean thieves are arrested in South Korea, they stole two Buddha statues from a temple in Tsushima, Japan. The thieves once brought statues into South Korea successfully, because two statues are identified as "fake" at customs inspection in Busan harbor. Surprisingly, clearance inspection isn't functioning at all there.
It is known that one of the statues was made in Korea in 1330, as paper inside the statue records it. With this record, South Korean people say definitively that the statue was stolen by someone in Japan. Of course, there is no such evidence that the statue was stolen at all. The fact which is only known is that the statue was made in Korea. We don't know how the statue came to a temple in Japan in what circumstances, however, it is the fact that the statue had been there for ages! The statue is 100% legally, absolutely, definitely a property of the temple in Japan at this moment, at least in modern law. South Korean people shamelessly make a definitive statement like "The statue is a property of South Korea, because it was stolen by Japan" without exhibiting any evidences. Then, South Korean government has not return the statues to Japan yet. Aren't they going to arrogate the statues??

Again, the statue is 100% legally, absolutely, definitly owned by the temple in Japan, so South Korean government should return to Japan immediately. If they won't, it's another theft! Whale Catching Country
If you think that Japan is the country which catches whales the most in the world, it's a wrong image, so please revise it. I know the country where fishers catch whales far more than Japan. It's South Korea!
As you know, Japanese government allows whaling for research. They targeted 900 whales, but only caught 267 in 2012 due to bad weather and interruption from activists. Plus, Japanese fishers accidentally catch approximately 100+ whales in their fixed net per year. It's an unfortunate accident, of course. Even if research whaling is done successfully, they catch only approximately 1000 whales per year in total.
By contrast, in South Korea, they caught 2350 whales in 2012! (News source, KBS World News, Japanese) They say whales are ACCIDENTALY caught in their fixed net, but can you believe?! I totally cannot. In South Korea, fishers caught 656 whales in 2009, 656 whales in 2010, 1098 whales in 2011 (News source, Joongang Ilbo, Japanese) and 2350 whales in 2012. It's rapidly increasing! Even if it's by unfortunate accident, at least South Korean government should make some efforts to mitigate such accidents. But nothing's done, it's increasing!

Fake Photo
A Korean news wrote an article to criticize Japan as fake massacre following an earthquake in 1923. The ugly article is: Released photos appear to show Korean victims of past Japanese massacre
The photo is totally a fake! Of course, so the story is!
The photo has several odd things which we Japanese can clearly distinguish.
Firstly, the photo has a date at the top of frame as "大正十二年九月一日". This is totally odd. In old days, Japanese hardly wrote letters horizontally. They wrote vertically in most cases! Even if they wrote letters horizontally, they wrote from right to left, it's different from what we do. (We usually write from left to right.) So, it should be at least 日一月九年二十正大. Jeong Seong-gil should not know the fact.
The second, how can we determine people in the photo are Koreans? In the article, they say "dozens of corpses are on the ground, with their lower bodies exposed." He shouldn't know the fact that Japanese people didin't wear pants in the era when Great Kanto Earthquake happened! Lower bodies exposed? It's not surprising at all!
Finally, the article says Jeong Seong-gil released this photo recently. It's so funny! The photo has been in the collection of the following recearch center's archives for long time: Tohoku University Of Art & Design - Tohoku Colture Research Center Archives
This photo is known as a photo for victims of the fire at Yoshiwara, the largest red-light district in old Japan. You can see that the photo in the research center has some area around which the fake photo doesn't has. It's impossible to draw imaginary picture in spaces around the original photo seamlessly like this. Thus, it's absolutely clear which is a fake.
Please do not be deceived by Korean fakes!

Two former comfort women appear in this video. First case is 金学順, or Kim Hak-sun. She was sold to sex parlor by her mother for 40 yen. She was not kidnapped by Japanese military! It was of course unfortunate, but it was not a responsibility of Japanese military that she became a sex worker.
The second case is 文玉珠. I don't know how to write her name in English. She earned amazingly 26000 yen in two years, when she was a comfort woman. At that time, a house in Tokyo costed about 5000 yen. She was able to buy 5 houses! We should not regard such a sex worker as a sex slave. She got rewarded well for her sex job. By the way, a soldier, rank-and-file, earned 15 yen per month in the same period. How rich she was!
Please do not deceived by those activists who blame Japan for comfort women. They have a political intent, which is evil for Japan. Hear voices of both sides. Fairness is the most important. Worth Of Apology
In my opinion, apology is worthy only when the target knows what apology is. A person who knows it shall express apology when he/she does something wrong.

Korea won the war!" Right after the war, Japanese police were disarmed and there were only women and children. Thus, Korean male riots easily killed the weak people. I'm really angried about this affair. I have never heard Koreans express any apology for it before.
Why so many Korean people were in Japan? Because Japan and Korea were a same nation due to Japan's Annexation of Korea. Syngman Rhee Line is of course void in the current international law!

Feel Apology?
Do you feel any apology when you are criticized by a sin which you really didn't do? I will not feel any apology at all! Instead, I will feel anger.
Of course, I mention about the story of comfort women's sex slavery. It's a terrible dishonor based on a fiction!

Before he published the book "My war crimes", Korea did not criticize about comfrot women. Korea's claim is often based on the book. However, surprisingly, we know today that the story is a fiction! Seiji Yoshida admitted it on May 29, 1996.
Why the story is still believed by people? It's because Seiji Yoshida's book was really popular amongst left wings in Japan, who were strongly connected to North Korea and China. Asahi news paper, where lots of left wing reporters belong, published an interview with Seiji Yoshida on 1991, then the book was widely known to people in Japan and Korea. The book was often used as a material for extortion against the Japanese government, left wing news papers blamed the government violently, consensus was twisted. The government was forced lots of compromise with Korea due to the fiction story.
Japan is criticized by a fiction for long time. Can you imagine how much anger Japanese people are feeling? No room for apology.
